Don't be afraid to buy store-brand food, Consumer Reports says
Thu Aug 29, 2013
"...equal in quality, but have a different flavor profile" If you can't taste the difference, don't pay the difference. Although a taste test by "magazine staffers" does not impress me. Too many Americans have dead palates.
See a theme park like a VIP with no waits, hassles

In reply to: Mike-1643354 #8 It's already "official". You get the amount of preferential treatment you can afford. Always been that way. Always will.
Bitten by tragedy, Cesar Millan returns wiser as 'Leader of the Pack'

I guess you and I aren't watching the same show Wren. I see dogs that have gained control of themselves and are on the road to being excellent companions. Shut down? Hardly. Purely-positive balderdash. I have a friend who is using purely-positive "training" for her 4 shelter dogs and after four year …
Chinese purchase of Smithfield unlikely to sway bacon buyers
Thu May 30, 2013
In reply to: cchan-3347405 #13 Bad analogy. I don't plan on eating my Toyota. The Chinese have a casual approach to food safety. Not interested in purchasing anything from a Chinese controlled company.
Smithfield agrees to be bought by Chinese meat producer for almost $5B
Wed May 29, 2013
The Chinese have bought this company and taken it private - no American board of directors to answer to. Interesting. There is absolutely no way I would purchase any of this brand's products again. Looks like it's time to call that local farm and purchase a share of a hog.
Your shiny, happy vacation on Facebook is a lie, and that's OK
Tue May 21, 2013
If you travel with a sense of humor tempered with compassion, there are no bad pictures and no bad stories. I have never felt the need to filter my vacations, or change them on the fly to make them appear grander. Best travel post I ever wrote that got the most positive feedback was getting stuck in …
AKC-registered breeders raising dogs in 'miserable' conditions
Wed May 1, 2013
The Today Show, on NBC this morning, told the truth about the AKCand this time instead of bunkering, the AKC decided to put a paid spokes-idiot front and center to try to defend their conduct. It was a disaster. This poor lady had no facts and no frame. She …

Most of us already have more stuff than we possibly need. Donate your unwanted gifts to charity and save time jumping through return-policy hoops.
Have it THEIR way: More eateries say 'no substitutions'

@KYg-mom: If your child is actually deathly allregic to peanuts why are you betting their life that a minimum wage prep cook won't make a mistake and accidentally cross-contaminate the food. If your child has a peanut allergy stay out of anyplace that serves peanuts. Geesh, is common sense dead?
Summer travel preview
Wed Jun 4, 2008
Support the airlines, are you kidding! My outbound flight on United involved not a two hour layover as promised, but an 8 hour layover that completely trashed the entire first day of my 4-day vacation. For the return flight, I headed to the airport when I was told the flight was running on time, onl …
